Buying a Home in Foreclosure: What You Need to Know

After years of steadily rising, home prices are starting to come down nationwide, while the foreclosure rate is rising dramatically. Meanwhile, over a million foreclosures are expected to be recorded this year.

That means a would-be homeowner could potentially save even more money by buying a home that's been taken over by a bank or lender seeking to recover money still owed on the property.

According to realtytrac.com , a real estate website that tracks trends including foreclosures, as recently as last year the national average when buying a foreclosure home was about 25 percent below the full market value of a home.

But that average may not be quite as eye-popping this year since many of the new foreclosures stem from problems in the subprime mortgage market.

Bidding Cities Should Be Treated With More Respect

SPECIAL TO GAMESBIDS.COM - Bidding for events is a major new product which is becoming increasingly important to international sports organisations and the international governing bodies. Is this new product being treated with sufficient seriousness and receiving the respect that it deserves?

The bidding roller-coaster seems to gather greater momentum each year. Almost every month now there is a vote taking place to award the rights to host a major event to some deserving city or country. We have just heard the announcement from IAAF about their selected hosts for their World Athletics Championships in 2011 and 2013. Next month we will know who will host Europes second largest event in 2012, the UEFA EURO. In July the IOC will select the host city for the Olympic Winter Games of 2014 with decisions of the host cities for the All African and Commonwealth Games coming later in the year.

BP and Shell submit bids for UAE sour gas project

DUBAI: Oil majors BP and Royal Dutch Shell have submitted bids for a sour gas project in the United Arab Emirates that could have a price tag as high as $10bn.
The UAE holds the world's fifth largest gas reserves, and needs to develop them to meet soaring domestic demand.
It and neighbouring Gulf countries are facing rising energy needs as their populations grow and economies expand, fuelled by record oil revenues.
“We have made a submission," a BP company spokesman said yesterday. Bids for the project were due in to state-run Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) yesterday.
A Shell company source also confirmed that it made a bid.
Industry sources said that France's Total and US Occidental Petroleum had also submitted bids.
Adnoc invited bids from several other companies including BG Group, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Exxon Mobil and Japan Oil Development Co.
