Football Manager To Go Massively

The brainchild of Sports Interactive co-founder, Oliver Collyer, the game is expected to be a new concept in football management, allowing users to build a club from scratch to compete against friends and rivals online for the ultimate in Football Manager bragging rights. Gamers can set up mini-leagues amongst their friends, bid in player auctions and compete in live matches 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Matches will take place in real-time with a range of tactical options for managers to control as they follow all the action via a 2D match engine. An in-game chat option will allow managers to exchange comments on the virtual touchline, whilst other aspiring managers can view their competitors and note their tactics.

Apart from the matches, users will need to control their club in a host of different ways.

Thompson leads charge to require school bids

County officials voted to set back construction on four new Sumner schools and eight renovations Monday, saying they wanted to see architects compete for the design contracts.

Commissioners on the budget committee wouldn't fund the Sumner school board's decision to hire two often-used architectural firms to oversee the building program, which was approved by the education committee last month.

Italian giants win auction of Yukos assets

Italian energy giants Eni and Enel yesterday won an auction for a group of assets belonging to Yukos, the bankrupt Russian oil behemoth - including a key 20% stake in Gazprom's oil division and the Arcticgaz company.

However, the Italians quickly offered to bolster the Kremlin's control of the energy sector by selling some of its newly-acquired assets to state gas monopoly Gazprom.

It was the first time foreign firms have purchased assets of Yukos at a series of controversial auctions aimed at liquidating the company, which was driven into bankruptcy after it was hit by billions of dollars in back-tax bills.
