WESTCHESTER, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 17, 2007--Insurance Auto Auctions, Inc., a leader in automotive and specialty vehicle auction services in the United States, today announced the opening of its newest auction center - Western Colorado - in Delta, located about 30 miles south of Grand Junction. The new 10-acre facility will provide service coverage to western Colorado as well as portions of southern and southeastern Utah. Live auctions at Western Colorado will include the I-bid LIVE(sm) internet bidding platform that combines live auctions with live auction internet bidders. This format, standard at all IAA locations, has maximized selling prices at IAA auctions across the United States. The new auction center is IAA's 2nd location in Colorado and follows the January opening of a new state-of-the-art facility in Denver.
A US carbon market could learn from Europe -IETA
NEW YORK, April 19 (Reuters) - The United States has an opportunity to learn from mistakes made in the Europe Union's carbon trade, but the longer it waits to create a market on greenhouse emissions, the more it stands to loose, board members of a global emissions carbon trading group said. "The U.S. has a chance to catch up and learn from the mistakes that were made in the European Union and I think that is a tremendous opportunity," Patrick Verhagen, a vice president of cement maker Holcim, and a board member of the International Emissions Trading Association, told reporters. The emissions group met on Thursday in part to discuss the opening of an office in Washington, D.C., its first in the United States, to lobby the government on the possible creation of a greenhouse gas market.
Art auction house expects record sale
The Heffel Fine Art Auction House already lays claim to having held the four top auctions in Canadian history. But David Heffel feels the company's next auction on May 23 is really something special. "It will be the biggest sale in Canadian history, we think," says Heffel. "The previous record is $12.5 million, and we're going to beat that." His confidence comes from the high quality of the 219 lots in the auction, which will be held live at the Sheraton Wall Centre Hotel. Many are by the icons of Canadian art, and are coming on the market for the first time in decades. .

Techniques for Selling Antiques and Collectibles
Is your house getting smaller? Of course not. But your living space may be shrinking, thanks to the ever-increasing numbers of objects you're dragging into it. If that's the case, you aren't alone. More and more Americans are insulating their homes with antiques and collectibles. In some cases, people are living under "a virtual avalanche of clutter," as the Associated Press put it in a 2005 report. Maybe it's time to start selling off some of the unwanted or unnecessary possessions that are crowding you. Heck, even if your living space is organized enough to make Felix Unger proud, you may be itching for a little more elbow room. Internet auctions, of course, have made the task of selling our "stuff" far simpler than in the prehistoric days of the 1980s and earlier.
