Used Phantom smashes auction record

You'd hardly call it a bargain at £208,000, but nonetheless one canny trader scored a bit of a result at a British Car Auctioneers sale in Nottingham recently, picking up one of the few second-hand Rolls-Royce Phantoms available on the open market for a song – relatively speaking.

The 2005 model Phantom had covered just 5000 miles. Bidding on it started at just £140,000, but rose quickly to its final sale price of £208,000. And although the cars have been changing hands for as little as £160,000, this low mileage example would be likely to make its owner several thousand pounds should he choose to sell it on.

The Phantom set a record for the highest sale price ever achieved by BCA for a current production car. The previous figure of £192,000 was also for a Phantom, conveniently enough at BCA Nottingham, which sold in 2005.

Tranzon to Auction off Five Luxury Condos in Downtown Boston

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Tranzon Auction Properties, the nation's premier real estate auction group, will hold a public condominium closeout auction at the Langham Hotel for five units located at 65 Broad St. in Boston on Tuesday, April 17, at 6:30 p.m. At this unique auction event, prospective buyers can make bids both in-person and online with the first unit sold as a bidder's choice with no minimum bid and no reserve.

Unlike the increasing number of real estate foreclosure auctions, these high-end, one-bedroom condo units—known as Lofts at Broad—must be immediately sold by developer Steve Sarcia in order to obtain capital for an important upcoming real estate project.

"I have a new project in town that I have to start so timing is of the essence," said Sarcia.

Foreclosure nightmare worsens

The worst of the U.S. housing slump may be over but not the foreclosure nightmare that haunts many of the nations homeowners, says a Central Valley real estate investment and foreclosure information company. More than a quarter-million (253,803) pre-foreclosures and notices of pending foreclosure auctions were filed nationwide in the first quarter of the year, according to figures compiled by Foreclosures.com of Fair Oaks. That means 2.4 out of every 1,000 homeowners faced losing their property to foreclosure in the first three months of 2007, according to its calculations. Those numbers are up 22.5 percent from the 207,128 filings in the fourth quarter 2006. They also dont include tens of thousands more now-vacant properties that actually were lost to foreclosure during that same period, says Foreclosures.com.
